This is not a reflection of my relationship with my own mom.

I was going to do a post about mothers in my writing, but [info]m_stiefvater beat me to the idea.

But maybe this is for the best, because I started thinking of some of the mothers in my stories.

Nimira's mom: Dead
Hollin's mom: Dead
Erris's mom: Dead
Annalie's mom: Dead
Alan Dare's mom: Dead
Det's mom: Dead (And not just dead, but KILLED. Bonus points.)
Stan's mom: Evil
Leo's mom: Missing
Leslie's mom: Neglectful and mean
Syri's mom: Dead (giving birth to him. More bonus points!)
Anubis's mom: He's a rag person with no parents.
Rupert's mom: Preoccupied
Pernillia's mom: Dead

ALFRED, YOU CALL YOUR MOM AND TELL HER YOU LOVE HER. (There's..*cough*...no telling how long she'll live, is there?)

(My wrist and elbow are finally feeling better, yay!)

*sniff* I miss you already, book.

I finished reading Graceling last night and it's the kind of book that reminds me why I write... Because Po was so sweet and funny and sexy and with just the right dose of angst and I miss him. *pout* What a great love interest. Thank goodness I love my own characters and I can go spend time with them since Graceling is over. I'm still left with that delicious, maddening sense of yearning, wanting to know what happens to Po and Katsa and Bitterblue next.

Weird, though. I wasn't into Graceling at all until around page 200. That's a lot to read for a book you're not that into. But then, when it got good, it got WHOA GOOD really fast.

New topic.

When I'm working on a book, one way I keep the characters in my head is, when I go to sleep I sort of pretend I'm them going to sleep and think their going-to-sleep thoughts. Is that totally weird?
