fabulousfrock@mac.com BioJackie Dolamore, in brief: I'm a YA author represented by Jennifer Laughran at the Andrea Brown Literary Agency. I'm 27 years old, living in Orlando (but dying to move more northward) with two cats and my boyfriend of ten years.
My debut novel, MAGIC UNDER GLASS, will be released 12/22/09 in the US/Canada and 2/1/2010 in the UK by Bloomsbury:
Nimira is a music-hall girl used to dancing for pennies. So when wealthy sorcerer Hollin Parry hires her to sing accompaniment to a mysterious piano-playing automaton, Nimira believes it will be the start of a better life. In Parry's world, long-buried secrets are about to stir. Unsettling rumors begin to swirl about ghosts, a madwoman roaming the halls, and Parry’s involvement in a group of corrupt sorcerers for whom the rules of the living and dead are meant to be broken for greater power. When Nimira discovers the spirit of a dashing fairy gentleman is trapped within the automaton, she is determined to break the curse. But even as the two fall into a love that seems hopeless, breaking the curse becomes a perilous race against time. Because it's not just the future of these star-crossed lovers that's at stake, but the fate of the entire magical world.
My second book is a love story between a mermaid and a winged dude in a setting inspired by late 18th-century Italy and I'd guess will probably be a 2011 release but right now that's all I can tell ya about that. ;)
Five Rules of Life Ms. Fabulous Frock Lives By:
1. Overdress. Feel pretty. Wear 60's dresses and cherry red heels to the grocery store.
2. Savor every meal. Take time to smell the extra-virgin olive oil.
3. Pursue art and knowledge.
4. Choose time over money whenever you can.
5. Be witty and kind and slightly pretentious, but never take yourself too seriously!
